The Mahindra XUV 7XO is not entirely a new SUV. This is the extensively refreshed version of the XUV700, rebranded with an all-new name and a bevy of interior revisions. Launched in January 2026, it was making the rounds among family-SUV consumers.
The reason why the XUV 7XO is so interesting is that it is simple. As for Mahindra, it did not sell a winning recipe down the river. Instead, it blended the old recipe and threw in a couple of new ingredients.
A Familiar Face With a Sharper Smile
The Mahindra XUV 7XO still resembles the Indian SUV on face value. Still, look closer and the distinctions become apparent.
The front gets revised LED headlights and new boomerang-shaped daytime running lights. The grille also looks fresher. Wrap-around LED tail-lamps make the new SUV look wider at the rear. Some new alloy wheels round out the little touches.
Kind of like your favourite shoes with some professional polish. The basic shape remains the same, but all of a sudden everything gets much more modern and fresh.
Inside, The Story Gets Better
Where the XUV 7XO really leaves a mark is in the cabin. A triple-screen dashboard incorporating three 12.3inch display panels-Mahindra claim has been incorporated as well. Ventilated rear seats, the powered ‘Boss Mode’ seats, and a 16-speaker Harman Kardon music system form the better trim feature list. Which all seems very nice on paper. But the much more pertinent question is: does this increase or ease up the everyday?
Therefore, for a family, it seems so; yes, it does. A clear screen for those longer road-trips. Plus, when it’s gran’ your road-buddy, a relaxing seat would make quite a bit of difference for her. An awesome music system can frankly transform boring highway miles into occasional, familial gatherings.

Power When You Need It
Mahindra XUV 7XO will be powered by the spirited engine options from XUV700. The 2.0-litre turbo-petrol churns out 203hp and 380Nm of peak torque in its first stage, while the 2.2-litre diesel develops 185hp and 450Nm peak torque. Both engine options are available with either a manual or automatic gearbox. For all-wheel drive capabilities, this selected diesel automatic variant will have this option.
Longer stays are recommended, particularly for the petrol engine, which should appeal to drivers keen on rapid overtaking. Diesel, on the other hand, does make sense in case you spend hours and hours on highways.
A Family SUV With a Practical Side
The XUV 7XO is offered in either a six- or seven-seat arrangement. And which cabin you’ll opt for depends on your needs and preference. For a feeling of spaciousness, the latter brings two additional captain’s chairs. However, the seven-seat configuration makes more sense with an increase in family size. There is one thing buyers should be aware of, however. Still, boot room is modest at 240 litres with all three rows in place. The third row folds flat to open up a lot more space.

Safety Is Not Just a Checkbox
A contemporary SUV should help keep its passengers safe before it attempts to dazzle them. As for now, an all-important ABS, electronic stability control, six airbags, and hill-hold and hill-descent control are standard fitments on the Mahindra XUV 7XO, while the more pricey variants get better driver aids. That equipment is important. But the most important thing is mindful driving.
What About the Price?
Mahindra is also likely to launch the more powerful 1.5-liter mStallion turbo-petrol. The XUV700 begins at 13.66 lakh, ex-showroom. Previously ranging between 13.99 lakh and 25.79 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), depending on variants and their existing prices. Not every costly feature is a must-have. In some cases, the best version is the one whose features you actually use.
The Human Question: Would I Buy It?
Here is the interesting part. The Mahindra XUV 7XO doesn’t try to be the flashiest SUV in every parking lot. Its real strength is balance. It offers strong engines, three rows of seats, a raft of tech, handy safety items, and a plush interior. It hasn’t lost any of the XUV700 traits that worked well in the first place.

Discontinuation
Feels a bit like XUV700 formula 2.0 for Mahindra. Styling is better, the cabin is improved, tech added, package more rounded. But the biggest reason to do so probably isn’t the dumb giant screen or fancy lights. But rather how it feels to have a car that can take on Monday traffic, tackle Friday shopping runs, carry the family all Sunday long, and then head off to that long weekend away without completely changing personalities.
